Serene Insurance refurbishes Korle Bu surgical ward
Serene Insurance Limited, a subsidiary of the First Sky Group, has handed over a refurbished fifth-floor surgical ward to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. Graphic Online reported that the floor, which serves endocrine and vascular surgery, received 55 new beds, upgraded male and female wards, washrooms, a nurses' station and doctors' offices. The Ghanaian Times said the handover took place on a Friday, and that Serene gave food, toiletries, computers and furniture worth GH¢100,000 to Accra Psychiatric Hospital on the same day as part of a quarterly programme.
Chief Executive Mercy Boampong said the company would keep maintaining the ward: "This is not intended to be a one-off intervention." First Sky Group Executive Chairman Eric Seddy Kutortse said the group would fund kidney transplants for eligible patients at the hospital.
